Software Application Privacy Policy

Application data

When you create an account for the use of mirror by l’Octet, you provide an email address, a username and a portrait photo of yourself, used for facial identification. This photo is used by the mirror by l’Octet to enable facial identification: when you face the mirror, it detects your face and captures a photo. This photo is sent to the facial recognition service to be compared with already registered faces. In case of positive recognition, the service returns a unique identifier. This identifier allows us to identify you from the mirror. The identification is only possible on the mirrors you have authorized. This photo is stored in the datacenters of Microsoft, our facial recognition service provider. Only the facial recognition service can access your photo for identification purposes. We do not have direct access to it. For this reason, we store a copy of your portrait in our secure databases. This copy is used to display your portrait on your profile page. Learn more about our facial recognition service provider: https://azure.microsoft.com/fr-fr/resources/transparency-note-azure-cognitive-services-face-api/

Use and transmission of your personal data

This data is not used for any purpose other than to identify your face. We do not pass on any other data about you to third parties.

The rights you have over your data

You can delete all your data at any time, directly via the mobile application or by writing to us at gdpr@loctet.azurewebsites.net. This irreversible deletion consists in deleting your data from our databases, your portrait from the facial recognition service, your authentication data.

If you delete your data while owning a mirror, you will no longer be identified as the owner and the mirror will display a new unique QR code for the new owner account to scan. In case of mishandling, contact support@loctet.azurewebsites.net.

Duration of your data storage

In case of prolonged inactivity, your data will be deleted automatically after a period of 1 year of inactivity on our servers. Your account will be considered obsolete and will be permanently deleted.

Security – Multiple factors authentication

To view your data, a mirror must recognize you AND it must be authorized from your user profile in the mobile application AND you must be logged into the mobile application (have a valid authentication token). We recommend to authorize a mirror only when you are facing it.
